This course aims to highlight the nuances of working with interracial couples and to increase competency in identifying some of the unique factors that may arise. The course will deepen understanding of how racial and couple identity development, experiences of discrimination, and family/social support impact these relationships. In addition, students will be challenged to explore and reflect on any biases or internalized narratives that may arise during the course via readings, assignments, and in-class discussions and activities.
