CFTD 683.1 - From Margin to Center: Developing a Professional Identity As a Therapist Of Color

3
This advanced seminar is designed to provide students of color with a theoretical and experiential opportunity to further develop professional and personal skills. Unique to this course is the consumption of therapeutic literature that centers the racial and ethnic identity of therapists of color. Faculty and students will collaborate in examining clinical work with direct practice and application of theory. Students will examine and develop contemporary interventions for healing socio-cultural trauma. Additionally, students will cultivate skills to conceptualize and apply social justice tenants to their work. Self of the therapist exploration and reflection is a key component to this course. This course requires both the consumption of knowledge and the ability to produce it, through class presentations, discussions, and written assignments.
