MPPA 570 - Ethics, Diversity & Socially Responsible Practice 3 This course provides students with a strategic operational foundation in the theory of public service ethics. Throughout the semester, we will examine the application of ethical theories to explore not simply what governments could do, but what they should do based on consequences, principles, and motivations. Together, we will investigate ethical standards expected of those working and leading the public service and not-for-profit sector. Specifically, we will identify and reflect upon the obligations of the public servant, and address the ethical dilemmas confronted by the public servant in the performance of their roles and responsibilities. As the course progresses, we will develop and respond to ethics-based scenarios using key concepts such as diversity, racialisation, colonialism, and intersectionality.
