PSYD 655 - Ethics & Professional Practice in Psychology 3 This course is designed to provide students with a solid foundation for the ethical practice of professional psychology in Canada. Students will learn the Canadian Psychological Association Code of Ethics (4th Edition, 2017) and the Code of Conduct of the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (CPBC). The focus of the course will include ethical standards, privacy, boundaries, rights of clients, credentialing, mental health codes and legislation and including court decisions affecting mental health professionals. This course will also introduce ethical guidelines for the primary realms of professional psychology practice: clinical, research, teaching, assessment and acquaint students with the Research Ethics Board (REB), its functions and requirements. Students will learn to apply ethical and professional decision-making skills to current issues facing the field of psychology.
