COUN 618 - Couples and Family Counseling 3 Prerequisite: COUN-534. This course presents an overview of major models of couples and family therapy. The impact of multigenerational and environment factors on family dynamics and couples’ relations will be examined through various systemic perspectives. Students will learn about the leading figures, feature concepts, and typical techniques and intervention strategies of these models. Students will be encouraged to evaluate the strengths and limitations of these models with consideration of power and hierarchy, gender bias, and diversity factors when working with different client populations.
Prerequisites: Students must complete MAC-472 or PCO-472 or COUN-534 prior to registering for this course.
