DCES 901 - DCES Dissertation I 3 Students are expected to apply one or more of the major research models or theories to conduct a research project in a dissertation format. The research needs to be structured and oriented toward adding to the knowledge base of counseling and the five core competencies in counselor education (teaching, supervision, advocacy, research, and counseling practice). In this first course of dissertation, students are expected to form their dissertation committees, make major progress on their dissertation proposal (chapters 1 and 2), and start formulating chapter 3, the methodology section, with the consultation of a methodologist, the Dissertation Chair, and other committee members if appropriate. Students who cannot complete the objectives designated in DCES-901 will receive an incomplete grade and must continue to complete the course objectives in the following semester before they can register for DCES 902 .
Prerequisites: DCES 900 .
