GPP 500 - Effective English Communication 0 Graduate Preparatory Program The Graduate Preparatory Program, comprised of 3 non-credit courses, focuses on a unique blend of academic and business English, ensuring students are able to study, and complete assignments and examinations with confidence in the fields of public policy/administration and industrial organizational psychology. Specific academic skills, such as essay writing, research methods, note taking, critical thinking and seminar or tutorial discussion, will provide a strong foundation for our students. Material in the course will cover current affairs and/or incorporate relevant public policy issues as well as key topics in industrial organizational psychology to bridge academic training with practical knowledge. Students can meet the English proficiency requirements for admission to our degree programs by successfully completing the 12-week Graduate Preparatory Program. GPP-500 - Effective English Communication (0 credit) This seminar will review grammar and syntax in professional English, and incorporate daily writing and note-taking practice suited at the graduate level. At the end of the seminar, students will develop ability to structure paragraphs, introductions and conclusions commonly used in report writing; write using a variety of genres, including short briefing notes and summaries; and take effective notes from lectures, and utilize information from a variety of sources.
