MACR 642 - Career Development, Job Development and Vocational Rehabilitation 3 This course focuses on the critical interface of work and disability. The major theories of career development are reviewed; application of these theories to persons with disabilities is explored. The psychosocial and economic aspects of work and the impact of disability on employment are considered. Theories and techniques for successful integration of rehabilitation clients in the labor market are addressed, including demand-side employer perspectives, job analysis, job development, job restructuring and modification, labor market analysis, and use of specialized placement techniques. Attention is also given to the role of the rehabilitation counselor in advocating for changes in policies and practices related to attitudinal and environmental barriers to employment.
