MACR 644 - Treatment Planning, Intervention, and Advocacy 3 This is the foundational course in the role of the rehabilitation counselor as a socially responsible practitioner. The course begins with a review of various interventions and services typically performed by rehabilitation counselors, such as interfacing with the medical system, community and governmental agencies; disability documentation and eligibility determination is also considered. In addition to preparing students to function in these roles, the course also provides students with knowledge and skills that will enable them to work collaboratively with individuals with disabilities, in providing and coordinating treatments and interventions. Techniques for empowering individuals with disabilities and their families as well as community organizations advocating for disability rights as well as other forms of social action are addressed.
