MCFT 512 - CFT Professional Identity Seminar and Capstone Project 1 This seminar is taken in the last summer semester of the program. The focus is to continue to facilitate the development of a professional identity as a Couple and Family Therapist, specifically focusing on degree completion and either clinical practice toward licensure, or beginning in a doctoral program. Students will work on their professional portfolio as part of their capstone project including the development of a resume or curriculum vitae (CV), as well as a focus on licensure paperwork. Students will also take the Master’s Qualifying Examination (MAQE), also part of their capstone project, which evaluates competency as a Couple and Family Therapist. Included in this exam is assessment of practice including assessment and diagnosis, treatment design including ongoing evaluation and termination, and ethical, legal, and professional standards including clinical risk management. Specifically, students will demonstrate their competency across the program’s student learning objectives (SLOs).
