MCFT 650 - Overview Post-Modern Approaches to Couple and Family Therapy 3 This is an introductory course in the postmodern theory models of couple and family therapy. Several models will be covered, including solution-focused, collaborative family language systems, narrative, and feminist approaches to therapy. Discussion of each model will include history of the approach, fundamental concepts, and typical techniques of assessment and intervention. Students will be engaged in the learning process through a variety of interactional methods (e.g., role-plays and multimedia applications). Students will critique these models with consideration of power/privilege and hierarchy, gender bias, and cultural fit.
