PSY 768 - Doctoral Practicum and Seminar II 1 Assessment Seminar is taken concurrently with the assessment practicum. This seminar provides a setting for the student to discuss and apply the fundamentals of clinical and diagnostic interviewing; to formulate DSM diagnostic impressions; to write an accurate assessment report based on data from the interview, mental status exam, and psychological test data; and to appreciate how diversity issues affect the content and processes of clinical interviewing and more broadly of psychological assessment. The course principally affords the student with an opportunity to review and discuss assessment cases from the diagnostic practicum, as well as to examine data generated from psychological tests. Finally, the course serves as a peer consultation group in which students learn to present case material in a standard format, to question and analyze their own clinical work, and to function as peer consultants to their colleagues. Students concurrently complete a minimum of 750 clock hours of supervised clinical training that focuses on developing skills and providing experience in psychological assessment. Practicum experience may not be transferred or waived.
