PSY 798 - Trauma-Informed Theory, Assessment, and Treatment in Military Clinical Psychology 3 This course is dedicated to the various aspects of the trauma spectrum. Subject areas include psychological trauma due to combat or combat-related exposure, moral injury, military sexual assault, military sexual harassment, traumatization due to minority discrimination and oppression-based race, sexuality, gender, ability, and/or religious affiliation. Students will also understand, discuss, and apply empirically supported trauma-informed interventions addressing loss, grief, bereavement, injury, and/or death. Best practices in trauma recovery used in both governmental and non-governmental settings will be explored including aspects of crisis competence, resilience, and post-traumatic growth. Note: Satisfies program requirement as a general elective.
Prerequisites: PSY 785 or permission of the Military Emphasis Coordinator.
