PSY 835 - Social Determinants of Mental Health 3 This is an advanced course for understanding human behavior in social context. It will provide an understanding of the ways in which contemporary social forces, including globalization, impact health and well-being. The course will highlight how social and cultural values, legislation, public policy, and institutional practices shape the environments that impact health outcomes. It will highlight the complementary roles of structural and clinical interventions in the promotion of health and well-being and in narrowing inequities. It will also provide practitioners with concrete ideas about how to act on the social determinants in ways that promote the health of the most vulnerable and marginalized populations.
