This advanced diversity course builds on the foundational knowledge from the Social Psychology and Individual Diversity (PSY 642 ), and LGBTQ Issues Across the Life Span (PSY 763 ). This course will explore mental health and substance abuse problems prevalent with sexual orientation minorities and gender nonconforming people, paying close attention to those most underserved and underrepresented. The course will focus on skill building, case conceptualization, and clinical intervention techniques for working with this population as well as addressing the impact of oppressive systems on health and dysfunction. Providing supervision around sexual orientation and gender variance in training will also be addressed.
