COUN 660 - Introduction to Play Therapy

This course is designed as an introductory to play therapy course, with emphasis on students learning play therapy rationale, research, and skills to facilitate therapeutic relationships with young children using play as a medium of communication. Students will participate in discussion, readings, and practice during the course in order to learn and integrate essential attitudes and skills of child-centered play therapy. Students will be introduced to additional topics that include: cultural considerations, ethics, parent consultations, and introduction to play therapy theories.
