COUN 722 - Counseling Older Adults & Families 3 This advanced course examines the developmental, historical, and social perspectives of aging. This course will also examine the impact of aging on family dynamics and relationships, including intergenerational issues and the crises or transitions experienced throughout the family life cycle. The course also addresses individual and family counseling, cultural diversity, ageism, caregiving, social justice advocacy, and innovative approaches in promoting positive emotional and cognitive well-being. The course includes discussions on viewing older adults in a holistic perspective and the role of families and healthcare professionals in the care of older adults.
