CSAC 702 - Substance Abuse Counseling Practicum and Seminar II

This course is a continuation of the CSAC 701 . Students can use this forum to continue to develop their competency in alcohol and other drug abuse counseling competency. It is concurrent with practicum field experiences. A group supervision model provides the student with the opportunity to apply previously learned concepts while working in an outside field experience. Emphasis is on written and oral case presentations in the areas of counseling skills, intake assessment, treatment planning, and case management. Students are expected to have a higher-level understanding of professional and legal considerations relevant to ethics, confidentiality, working with referral sources, special populations, treatment options, and models of alcohol and drug abuse counseling. Students are required to spend 250 clock hours per practicum (a minimum of 500 total clock hours) in a supervised MISA/AODA-approved site.This course is a continuation of the CSAC 701 .
